Response to Comments on "TradReviews" Post

Hello, everyone.

I want to take this opportunity and state my beliefs. In response to the recent comments on the Trad Reviews post by anonymous, I feel obligated to. I am a Traditional Catholic - I want to serve the Church founded on Jesus Christ and preserved through the past two millenia. I am here to serve and teach. I am here to spread the Gospel on the Internet, and I anticipated a lot of people wouldn't like that. Surprisingly, during the past few years I learned not only computer knowledge but a wealth of information on Catholic practices, saints, etc. that I never knew before. I think that during my past year and a half blogging, I have learned probably more than I have taught my readers.

One thing I have learned better is myself. I have learned that I have a vocation - a vocation to serve God - a vocation, I believe, to the holy Catholic priesthood. And during this past year I also realized that I am a Traditionalist Catholic. I want the Church to remain true to its sacred teachings. Even over the summer when I stayed with a group of Benedictine monks, I was able to grow even closer to God in realizing that I can't do everything. I learned that I can't save souls or make people believe - only God can.

I want to point out the two recent comments on this blog - please read them under my post on TradReviews.

First off, I do think I sound mature on this blog. I am tired of continually being called "immature" by anonymous commentors in the recent months. Are you saying I am immature because I stand for the Holy Traditions of the Catholic Church and refuse to be swerved by modernism?

Secondly, I choose not to reveal my real name for my safety. Many of my fellow bloggers choose to do the same thing. In this day and age, safety on the Internet has to be a #1 priority. Please know that I do not choose to remain anonymous because I am afraid of the Church knowning my beliefs. After my ordination, I plan to not only reveal my name but place my picture online like many blogging priests do. Until that day comes, though, I choose to remain anonymous. I however am not afraid of my beliefs being "reviewed" by the Catholic Church because my beliefs are part of the Catholic Church.

My priest, bishop, and other important people in my diocese already are aware of my support for the Tridentine Rite and my Traditional views. Overall, I have received great support from them.

I am both a sinner and a servant of God. I am someone hoping to enter a seminary. That is who I am. If anonymous is demanding to know my name, he/she is being a hypocrite for not revealing his/her own name with his/her powerful statements.

To those that wish to bring discord online, I remind you of the most important thing in the world - love. Bringing discord does not foster love.

So, since this post has turned into an open post for debate, I address this to all of my readers: I want to know your comments. If you have a problem with something I do, then please let me know. And if you wish to offer support, then please do so.

To all of you, regardless, I pray that you will have peace!

God Bless!

As you can see from my previous comment I'm still having some problems signing into my Blogger account when I leave a comment. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Moneybags,
Don't let this anonymous fool get you down. Keep doing the great work you are doing.

The person is obviously very bitter and is probably a liberal Catholic who is offended by the Truth.

Notice that the person didn't have the guts to put their name with the comments!

I read your blog - This all seems like church politics to me... I dont get involved in political discussions in the church or out. Just too busy trying to follow Jesus!

Moneybags,

I enjoy reading your blog on a regular basis. What I see show through is a true love for Christ and that is all that really matters. When things like this happen, just remember the beatitudes: Matthew 5,11 "Blessed are you when they insult you..."

I have absolutely no problem with what you are writing and support you 100%.

The church needs more people like you.

And when I found out your approx. age I was suprised...I thought you are very knowledgeable and together for someone that age. I personally would say you are mature for your age...not immature.

You are gifted and blessed in what you do. Please continue...you are doing God's work.

I am new to this discussion, but I don't get all the anger here. So someone disagreed with you and your friends about your comments? Is that any reason for all the comments I see? Anyhow, I get your fear about posting your name, but your comment is pretty weak when you won't even mention your diocese. And lastly, is the issue going to somehow be different once you are ordained? Will you be somehow safer then than you are now? I don't know much about you and your buddies on this site but I know a BS story when I hear one. I was starting to think the guy or woman making all the string comments was way out of line, but they may have a point. You do talk in circles and you sound silly in doing it. Oh well, I don't care much myself. Everyone who has been around the Catholic church has seen guys like you and Mr. strong words come and go. I wish you luck on becoming a priest but I see a lot of rocky roads ahead.

Oh by the way, before you and your gang start getting on me for my comment here, just remember that all of your online friends aren't going to be able to help you once you get into the seminary and start shooting off your mouth. In the seminary, everyone acts like you to start with. Until they get bad grades, bad reviews, find a girlfriend, get bored, drink too much, etc. Don't think these things don't happen. They do, all the time and you are wrong if you don't think they do. and I know about it first hand for all your online buddies too. One of my close cousins was in semainary for several years and he sounded just like you when he went in. All full of himself and a real know it all. Ask me (or him) where he is today. So don't laugh too hard about your buddy that is giving you a bad way to go know. He may know things you don't because you and your buddies on your site haven't been around long enough to see it. But you will if you make it to a seminary.

Good luck on your site. I'll check back in in a year and see if you are still around.

Anonymous,

I've mentioned my diocese MANY times in the past on this blog. And, yes, I do think it would be safer for my family if I reveal my name later on.

I have no idea why you say I am "full of myself" when I just teach what the Church teaches and answer comments directed towards me.

Again, it is an anonymous commentor posting attacking comments. Figures.

I'll be here in a year defending the Church and continuing to spread the Gospel of Christ. I stand for the Church, and I will defend Her, promote Her, and seek to spread Her message as well as the traditional Latin Mass.

Please be advised that I have contacted the archdiocese of Chicago and advised them to review printouts from your website regarding comments you have made pertaining to Bishop Flynn and also your manner of generally conducting yourself on the site. I have been relaibly advised that the archdiocese has little interest in what lay Catholics write or publish, unless it becomes abusive to church teaching, especially since there is a first amendment. However, once a person applies for a seat in a seminary, ANY SEMINARY, they automatically place themselves under the authority of the Church as it regards issues of obedience and character. First, I believe that positions you have taken and comments you have made regarding Archbishop Flynn are disrespectful and not in keeping with the standards that a future priest should aspire. Second, your attitudes evidence a status of immaturity that needs to be addressed.

I am acutely aware that you have, as a lay person, a right to be controversial. However, your comments as described above are inappropriate for anyone who seeks ordination. Your decision to seek holy office must come first and as a fellow Catholic, I am very concerned that your comments about the archbishop and your treatment of issues on the website evidence problems with obedience and authority.

For these reasons, I have respectfully asked the archdiocese to candidly and compassionately review your comments about the archbishop and your general comments regarding the liturgy, and the role of priests as a whole. I have also commented to the archdiocese that I feel you have issues due to immaturity rather than a failure to be obedient to the Church.

I can only suggest now that you take a deep breath and decide whether to keep fighting about these issues or simply stop what you are doing.

I am acutely and painfully aware of how badly we need priests in our Church. However, as i have commented to the archdiocese, anyone with this kind of glib disrespect for others has basic and serious issues with authority and managing his emotions. I hope you can appreciate the fact that our church has suffered enough embarassment from priests who should never have been ordained and who obviously had issues coming into their office that should have been spotted and dealt with. Whatever decisions are made about you in the future willbe based on what you have written (copies already provided to the diocese) so don't blame me or anyone else for your mistakes.

Anonymous,

I don't know how you can say that Moneybags is full of himself? I have learned so much from his blog--not about him but about the church. Yes, he does sometimes post things about himself--but this is a blog( a Catholic blog )...

(Main Entry: blog

Part of Speech: noun

Definition: an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log

Example: Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author.)
______

99% (or more) of the stuff Moneybags writes on here is centered on the Church and not on Moneybags. Thank you Moneybags, I've learned ALOT.

It seems to me as though you come on here to put Moneybags down, and I most certainly know that is not what
Christ taught us to do.

I honestly think that the other anonymous who identified themselves as another person is the same person.

God Bless you Moneybags. My prayers are with anonymous as well as you.
